Opposition in All Things

I write this from the Neuro ICU at Flagstaff Medical Center.  My daughter, Kimberlee, has suffered a terrible accident.  Through these trials we are tested and come to know God better if we choose.

She had an epidural bleed and broken neck after hitting her head while galloping on a horse.  We were in Pinetop on vacation.  She could not be airlifted out because of bad weather.  She was taken by ambulance to Flagstaff where a neurosugeon was waiting for her.  After a very dark night, the light broke to find her making purposeful movements this morning.

We have seen the Lord's hand in her care every step of the way.   We appreciate your continued faith and prayers in her behalf.  Yesterday I took the role of nurse to make sure she was taken care of.  Today I am her mother.  Broken hearted yet hopeful for a full recovery.

Thank your so much for your faith and strength through our Savior. It lifts me and gives me hope in all things. Kimberlee has been in my thoughts and prayers all day. I believe what Elder Maxwell has said that there is great "orchestration" in our lives by our Father in heaven. He is the leader of this symphony we call life. Thank you for reminding me. I love you.

Aunt Miriam & family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers daily. We are praying for a Christmas miracle on Kimber's behalf. I know that she is lucky to have you all there and has the strength that only a mother has. We love you all. Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help.

David and Miriam, Patty called me just a little before midnight on 12/13 and I was so saddened to learn about Kimberlee's accident and the injuries she sustained. It's just so hard to believe because I know how much she was enjoying her time back in AZ with family and friends. We just love her dearly and pray that she will be healed according to God's plan. I put her name, Ethan's and Thurston's on the Salt Lake Temple roll and continue to invoke pleas for healing power from the other side of the veil from loving grandparents and other releatives. I just keep remembering when she was about three and kept reciting 9-1-1 and never realizing that 20 years later they would mean greater significance in her life. Give her our best. We sent an e-mail to the hospital but they do limit the amount per week. The Taylor House looks like a great respite for care. Miriam, thanks for updating your blog. It makes it easier for us to follow her condition. I shared the link with Patty today and it was very difficult for both of us to see her in the ICU but tender to see Kiersten with her. Please give our best to Ethan and his parents. I hope you don't encounter too much bad weather. I lived with snow for almost 20 years and still can get used to it (but prefer it over ice). Take care. Love, Linda (SLC) and Patty (Tucson)

We are friends of the Kroks. I served a mission in Australia and married a woman from their ward in Richmond, NSW (Tatia Nieuwenhuizen). We just received a phone call from Tatia'a mom informing us about Kimberlee's accident. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter at this time. May you feel the comforting power of the Savior at this time.

We know John and Ann are on their way. Please let us know what we can do.
